People stop me in New Amsterdam and ask what I am working on. It is a fair question and I never have a short answer, so I decided to write it all down instead.
This issue is that answer. It is a list of what got built, what went live, and what people are actually using. I have kept the boasting out of it. Where there is a number in these pages, it is a number I can show you.
My father was a civil engineer. He drew a thing, then he built the thing, and then he pointed at it. That is the whole family method. He did it with a hotel, a television station, and a radio station. I am doing it with websites, apps, games and books, from the same corner of Berbice.
Some of what follows is serious work. A law library. A mortgage calculator. A news site. Some of it is pure sweetness, like a game where you build a pizza shop, or a garden in a dominoes yard that grows eight provisions. I do not apologise for either kind. A family business should be able to feed you and make you laugh.
If you are a business owner reading this, look at these pages as a place to stand. We have a radio signal, a television channel, a news site, forty-one live addresses on the internet, and a magazine in your hand. When you put your name with ours, that is where it goes.

Forty-one Little Rock websites and apps are live and reachable. Twenty-six of them install on your phone like any app. There is now one page that lists every single one.
Count them. Forty-one addresses on the internet, all of them live, all of them ours, all of them built out of New Amsterdam.
That number surprises people, and honestly it surprised me the day I sat down and counted properly. It grew the way a family grows. One site needed a second site. A radio station needed a place to stream. A news channel needed somewhere to publish. A game needed a home. Nobody planned forty-one. Forty-one happened because we kept answering the next real need in front of us.
Twenty-six of those forty-one install on your phone. You open the page, you tap add to home screen, and it sits there with the rest of your apps. No store account, no waiting on a download, no big data bill. That matters here. Plenty of Guyanese are working off one phone and a data bundle, and we build for that phone first.
The trouble with forty-one of anything is remembering where they all are. So we built a directory. One page, every site, every app, plainly listed, with a link to each.

88.5 Rock FM was built so Berbice would have a voice on the dial. It still is that. The difference now is that the dial is not the only way in.
The station streams live at 885rockfm.com. Open it on a phone in Georgetown, a laptop in Brooklyn, a tablet in Toronto. Same station, same voices, same music, no aerial required. Berbicians abroad tell us they keep it playing in the background while they work. That is exactly what it is for.
I am on the air myself. I go across the road, sit behind the microphone as Spicy, and talk to Guyana. After all the years of building things quietly behind a screen, there is something honest about a live microphone. It cannot be edited and it cannot be faked.
Alongside the station sits Little Rock Studio, which handles live events and outside broadcasts. That means we do not wait for the news to walk into the building. We pack the gear, we go to where the thing is happening, and we broadcast from there. Functions, community events, whatever Berbice turns out for.

Radio has always run on greetings. Somebody has a birthday, somebody is away from home, somebody just wants to hear their name come out of a speaker in their own mother's kitchen. That never stopped being the best part of the job.
So we built a proper place for it.

A television station that only broadcasts lives for a day. Whatever went out at seven is gone by eight. That has always been the frustration of the work.
So NewsWatch publishes. Every story that goes through the newsroom gets a written home at lrtvsnewswatch.com, where it can be read, searched, shared on WhatsApp, and found again next year.
As of this issue, there are eighty-six published stories on that site.
Eighty-six is not a boast. It is a body of work. It is a record of what happened in this region, written down by people who live here, in the words we actually use. Berbice has spent a long time being covered from a distance, in summaries, when it was covered at all. An archive fixes that quietly, one story at a time.
Channel 10 goes on doing what it was built to do in 1989, when my father put a television station inside his own hotel because his guests wanted something to watch. He built for the people in front of him. NewsWatch is the same instinct with a keyboard attached.

People think game studios are a foreign thing. They are not. They are a room, a plan, and somebody stubborn.
Eight Little Rock games are live and playable today.
Eight provisions growing, four pots cooking, and one rule that says nobody eats alone.
A dominoes game is never only a dominoes game. It is a yard. There is a table, there is noise, there is somebody who takes too long to play, and somewhere behind all of it there is food.
So we put the rest of the yard in.
The Dominoes Yard now has a garden, and in that garden you grow eight provisions. Real ones. The things that actually come out of the ground here and end up in the pot on a Saturday.
Then there is the pot itself. Four things cook in it, and every Guyanese reading this already knows them by heart. Metemgee. Boil and fry. Saturday soup. Cook-up. No explanation needed. If you know, you know, and if you do not know, that is a lovely gap in your education and we are happy to fill it.
Here is the part I like best. When you serve from the pot, it feeds everybody in the kitchen. Not just you. Not just the player who did the cooking. Everybody who is there.
That is not a game mechanic I invented for cleverness. That is how it works in a real Guyanese yard. Nobody dishes for one. You cook big, you call people, and the pot goes round. We wrote it into the game because it is true.

Not everything we make is for fun. Most of it is for a problem somebody was tired of.

Writing is the oldest thing I do and the one I am most stubborn about.
The Little Rock Press shelf now carries twelve titles listed on Amazon. Legal writing, family history, tribute, and story. Some of them are about this family and this house. Some of them are about the road out of Berbice and back again. All of them were written from here.
Twelve is a shelf. Twelve is a proper row of spines you can look at. When I started, it was one book and a lot of doubt about whether anybody in the world wanted to read a Guyanese woman writing about Berbice. It turns out the question answers itself if you keep writing.
The bookstore is Paper Pulse, at paperpulse.online. That is the reading home for the family's titles, built so Guyanese readers have somewhere of their own to browse and buy rather than being an afterthought in someone else's shop.
There is more coming. There is always more coming. I write the way my father drew, which is to say constantly and usually late at night.
If you have ever thought about writing your own family down, take this as encouragement. The stories in Berbice are as good as anybody's. They just need somebody willing to sit still long enough to write them.

A hundred rooms, drawn by an engineer. Not open, not built, and honestly told.
Far out at the Takutu, where Guyana meets Brazil, sits Lethem. Savannah, rodeo dust, and some of the last quiet country left in South America.
My father drew a hundred-room hotel for that place. He was a civil engineer and he drew it properly, the way he drew everything, on paper, to scale, in his own hand.
He did not get to build it.
The blueprint is still in this family's hands, and it is still the plan. Little Rock Lethem will be built. It will carry the family name out to the Rupununi. It will give visitors coming for the rodeo and the savannah somewhere of ours to stay.
What it is not, today, is open. It is not under construction. There is no date on it, and you will never read a date in these pages until there is a real one to print. We will not promise anybody earnings, returns, or an opening season we cannot stand behind. That is not how this family does business and it is not how this magazine will be written.
What we will do is tell you honestly when the ground moves.
Until then it is what it has always been. A drawing by a good engineer, held by the daughter who intends to finish it.
